Questions
Including the ones without a good answer yet. Where something is undecided, it says so rather than sounding confident.
The sensors
Do I need the sensors to use Dextri?
No. The app is the product. Programming, weight selection, logging and progression all work with no hardware at all — you tap to end a set instead of it ending itself. The sensors remove taps; they do not unlock anything.
What happens if the battery dies mid-session?
The workout carries on with the manual controls, from that set onward. Nothing is lost and nothing needs restarting. Every single thing the sensors do has a way to do it by hand, and always will — that is a design rule, not a fallback we tolerate.
Why two sensors instead of one?
One on the wrist and one on the shoe see different things. The wrist follows the working limb; the shoe says whether the rest of you moved. Together they can tell a rep from a shrug, a re-grip or someone handing you a towel. One sensor guesses at that.
Which lifts does it count?
Barbell, dumbbell and machine work. Counting is being validated lift by lift against recorded sessions, and Dextri will only claim a lift once it holds up on that lift — not once it holds up on average. Where it is not confident, it asks you instead of writing a number down.
Does my phone need to be out during the set?
No. It can stay in your pocket with the screen locked. You look at it between sets, or not at all.
The training
Can I still choose my own exercises?
Yes. Swap anything, change a weight, add or drop a set. Dextri plans the next week from what you actually did, so overriding it is information rather than a fight.
What if I miss a week?
The next week is planned from where you are, not from where the schedule thought you would be. Missing sessions is normal and does not need apologising to an app.
Does it work in a home gym?
Yes. You tell it what equipment you actually have and the program is built out of that. It will not prescribe a machine you cannot reach.
Is it for beginners or for experienced lifters?
Both, but they get different programs. It asks what you have been doing and builds from there rather than starting everyone at the same place.
Launch and price
When does it launch?
No date. Dextri is in active development and a date will not be announced until it is real. The waitlist is how you hear first.
How much will it cost?
Not set. The shape is decided — a subscription for the app, a one-off for the sensors, and a free tier — but no numbers. See Pricing.
Which platforms?
iPhone first. Android is intended but not scheduled.
Your data
What do you collect?
Your training — the sets, weights and reps — and, if you use the sensors, the motion data they record. Privacy sets out what is kept, for how long, and how to have it deleted.
Do you sell my data?
No. Not to advertisers, insurers, employers or anyone else.
Can I get my training history out?
Yes. It is yours, and it exports.
